Sure to be one the highlights, the Royal Deeside Speed Festival Soapbox Derby is set to be an exciting finale to the Event.

 

The grid is now full, and teams have been busy over the winter months designing, building, preparing and testing a variety of weird and wonderful machines. Some teams are gunning for victory – others are just…. Well…. We will let you decide. 

 

The Derby will be run on the very top part of the Castles Driveway. A section deemed too dangerous** for the hillclimb will present the perfect challenge for our daring derby(ers)…. A few chicanes (small hay bales) and death-defying jumps (kerb-height) will ensure that crowds will oooh and aaaah as the brave men (and women) in their (hopefully not flying) machines career (in control) down the 400m track.

 

Prepare to be wowed by engineering prowess, fancy-dress filled frolics – and a smattering of daring-do…… you don’t want to miss this!

Prizes will be awarded for the best team fancy dress, overall winner and “spirit of the Derby” for the most interesting soapbox judged by our Soapbox MC – Steve Robertson.
